If you are a student of Comenius University in Bratislava, then you have certainly heard of the Acoustic trio: 3 students who captivate the audience with their music and voices that are out-of-this-world. If not, prepare yourselves, because you are going to be seriously overwhelmed by their awesomeness!
Just a few days are left till the popular trio gives one last performance for this year and we are excited to get an exclusive interview from George F, the pianist and one of the vocalists of the band.
Without further due, let’s start-
Sérénité: Can you introduce yourself to our readers, with a few words?
My name is George F and I am a member of the Acoustic trio along with Mickey Kapt and Jack M.
S: When did you start playing music?
I have been studying singing, piano and theory of music for more than a decade.
S: Which instruments do you play/what is your role in the band?
In our acoustic trio I perform lead and back vocals and play the keyboard. The others also sing and play keyboard and guitar.
S: How did you meet? And how did you decide to form the band?
We first met as students of the medical and dental faculty of Comenius University. We used to be members of AmusiA band and we performed in many music stages in Bratislava. After the break-up of the band we continued working together.
S: What genre are you playing? What are your influences?
Our music is influenced by Pop and Rock music and artists, like John Legend and Muse.
S: Which musicians do you admire and why?
I personally love Queen and the powerful performances of Freddie Mercury, acoustic or not.
S: How do you balance your music with other obligations (e.g. academic)?
We all try to steal some time from our daily routine in the clinics and from studying, as music is the means that enables us to discharge from the daily stress.
S: Have you been in any competitions?
Mickey Kapt made an appearance in the Československo má talent and dazzled the judges with his performance. At the end of his act the audience gave him a standing ovation, making the first phase of the talent show a success.
S: What are your (musical) plans for the future?
I always try to broaden my knowledge in the art of music, therefore I would like to continue my studies in advanced theoretical courses, in the conservatory.
S: And one final question, for our viewers: what advice would you give to beginners/new musicians?
Learning how to play music is not accomplished just in a conservatory or just in a band, but is actually the combination of these two that will really enable the musician to fully experience music.
S: Thank you so much, George, for being with us today, it was a pleasure talking to you and getting to know you better. We wish you all the best for the future, academically and musically speaking!
The Acoustic trio is going to give one last performance for this year, on Friday, 19-5-2017. Details of their concert in Bratislava are given in the poster below:
